Matthew 24:14 says, “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Nations throughout Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East have made the greatest efforts to keep Christ and His Church out for thousands of years. The rulers of these nations that have yet to hear the gospel are cracking down now harder than ever to keep Christ and His Church out. BUT GOD! God has given us the power and the authority to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth. He is rescuing people from every tongue tribe and nation that will one day worship around the throne in unity for all eternity.
The coolest thing is that he invites us to be a part of his mission to reach the whole world with the gospel. If you have been ransomed from sin and death and you have been raised into newness of life in Christ Jesus. You have a role to play in completing the task, whether that is praying, mobilizing, giving financially, or going yourself. The quicker we get it done, the quicker we all get to go home and gaze into the eyes of Jesus face to face!
So, if nations that have yet to hear are cracking down and not allowing people in to share the good news, what do we do?
Now is the time for missions to become more relevant. We must find ways to add value to society within these nations. We need to access the nations more creatively. Many Great Commission Workers have made the shift. The mission field is no longer just for those trained in seminary the workers consist of businessmen, teachers, coputer programmers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, and many more competent, skilled, and faithful men and women.
So….. How is midwifery relevant?
Many of the nations that have yet to be reached with the gospel also have some of the highest maternal and neonatal death rates. Nations with high death rates are seeing the urgent need to get qualified care to their women and children. The nations are in desperate need of competent midwifery care for their people. This need is swinging doors of opportunity wide open into some of the hardest places in the world to reach.
